We look forward to seeing you at El Mirador commercial center (Cuenca, Spain) on January 25 and 26 to celebrate the World Environmental Education Day 2019 through free workshops and activities of Environmental Education
It is privilege to be able to say that, for a number of decades now, society has been taking increasing awareness that caring for the environment start with each of us, with everything we do in our daily lives. Gradually, our knowledge, behaviours, skills, attitudes and commitments, both individual and collective, are being adjusted to form a society that is more respectful with the environment and the principles of sustainability. This has been thanks to Environmental Education, which the most powerful tool to fight environmental degradation.
The history of Environmental Education started when we realized that environmental conflicts had a social origin –we were the cause of the growing destruction of Nature!–, and was materialized as a reality in the International Workshop on Environmental Education held in Belgrade in 1975. Experts from more than seventy countries adopted the overall guiding principles of Environmental Education for the world, which were reflected in the Belgrade Charter. Already by then, the importance of Environmental Education for the planet and human well-being was such that January 26 was established as the World Environmental Education Day, date that we have been celebrating every year for more than forty years now.
How are we going to celebrate the World Environmental Education Day 2019?
This year is very special for us because of the intense work that we and other colleagues have developed as environmental educators in the province of Cuenca over the past year, thanks to the commitment of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha towards society’s environmental awareness. Thus, on January 25 and 26 we will celebrate the World Environmental Education Day in El Mirador commercial center, in Cuenca (Spain), by offering activities and workshops of Environmental Education for free. This initiative is promoted by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development, and is intended for children aged 6 years and above.
Participating in the event requires previous registration by completing the following online form: REGISTRATION FORM. Just one activity or workshop must be selected for each participant.
Come to see us and enjoy the World Environmental Education Day 2019!
